Math – We will be continuing to practice fact families and learning how to use the addition and subtraction facts table.

Reading – Our new story is called, “Ruby in Her Own Time”.  We will be focusing on what we learn as we grow and change.  We will be practicing words with the ng and nk endings and compound words.

Reading – Since it is only a three day week, we will not be starting a new story.  We will be reviewing letter patterns, sight words, and reading concepts from our previous stories.  We will also be reading some fun stories about Valentine’s Day!

Reading – We will be starting a new unit this week which will discuss the changes in our world.  Our first story, “A Place to Play” is about how places change.  We will be practicing the long i sound and the long e sound spelled with the letter y.

We are heading into another exciting week for first grade.  On Wednesday, we will be going to the Santa Shop so students can purchase gifts for their families.  Please fill out the envelope that was sent home so we can assist your child in buying gifts.  Also, thanks to all of your support our class won the Marco’s fundraiser and we will be having a pizza party on this Friday the 16^th.
